A Season of Giving

December is here, and with it, our Month of Giving! As a non-for-profit charity, we rely so heavily on the generosity of our families, communities, alumni, and donors to do what we do. Not only is running camp program expensive, paying staff is expensive. Heating buildings is expensive. Moving waste water is expensive! Everything we do has a cost, and we are so blessed by the community of supporters who help us meet our financial needs to simply keep camp running.

Donations this Month of Giving help us in many ways. They help us have a healthy cash flow to see us through a slower time of year. This slow time is ideal to do special projects (like draining and painting the pool) so we don’t interrupt guest activities. But because there are no guests here, we don’t have revenue coming in. It’s a cycle that takes some balancing, and donations help us greatly at this time. Once our traffic and revenue pick up again in the new year, your donations help us in a multitude of ways including completing projects more quickly, building a healthier operating reserve, and paying down debt.

This year, our fundraising target is $335,000 for the entire year. We’ve already collected $55,000 towards that goal, and are hoping to raise an additional $80,000 during our Month of Giving. If you are willing and able to give this season, we would be so appreciative!

Donations can be made with credit card on our donation page, by e-transfers to campnakamun@gmail.com (please write it the notes that it is a donation), or by cash or cheque. All donations above $20 are eligible for a tax receipt. Your generosity helps us keep Camp Nakamun a place for connection, growth, and memories as people encounter God, enrich relationships, and experience creation here.
